Prepare a 30 to 60 second M&A pitch which covers the strategic reasons why the acquiror would want to buy the target. It’s great if your idea follows a current industry trend, such as consolidation of a certain sector by larger players, and can point to past successful acquisitions in the space. Finally, any knowledge of key numbers, such as revenue, EBITDA, and the EV / EBITDA multiple of the target is very helpful. Take a guess at what the post-acquisition EV / EBITDA multiple might look like as there will be a 20-30% control premium for an M&A deal on top of the normal market multiple.
